How far ahead should I book?

Two to three weeks is comfortable for most moves. Month-ends and the summer fill up first. If your date is the last weekend of a month, book as early as you can. Short notice is worth asking about anyway; cancellations happen and we would rather fit you in than leave a truck idle.

How does pricing work?

We quote per move rather than publishing a rate, because the honest number depends on how much there is, how far it goes, how much access there is at both ends, and whether you want packing. Send the form with your date and addresses and you will get a real figure back the same working day, not a range that doubles on moving day.

Question 3

What do I need to do before moving day?

If you are packing yourself, have the boxes sealed and labelled with the room they are going to before we arrive. That is the single biggest thing that keeps a move short. Clear a path to the door, reserve parking near the entrance if you are on a busy street, and keep anything you need that day with you rather than on the truck. We will tell you anything specific when we confirm your booking.

Is there anything you will not move?

Hazardous goods, mainly: propane tanks, gasoline and fuels, paint and solvents, aerosols, ammunition, and anything corrosive or flammable. Also perishable food, plants on long-distance moves, and anything live. For valuables like cash, jewellery, passports and medication, we recommend you carry those yourself rather than put them on the truck.

Do you handle stairs, apartments and tight access?

Yes, it is routine work. Tell us the floor, whether there is an elevator, and anything awkward about the access when you request your quote, and it is priced in from the start. Access discovered on the day is how moves run long and quotes stop being accurate.
